Everyone has a story. ... and by "everyone" I mean everyone.
There are few things that really exasperate me and extinguish my desire to want relationships of any sort with certain people. When it comes down to the terms 'reason' & 'excuse' I strongly believe that there is a significant difference between the two. When I see someone with a vision & immense potential doing nothing except letting time fly, possibility weaken, and their vision fade away because of their unwillingness to face forward & stop looking back on past sufferings --it irritates me. All of us, everyone...has a past. We all endure suffering...heartache, pain, loss, struggles, etc. What it comes down to is you facing those past 'hurts'. If you continue to run from them, they will chase you... your past will chase you into the opposite direction of your destiny and lead you to your grave with no remorse, but with plenty of regrets. I understand that past experiences drastically influence our state of mind, but no matter how intense your past.. you have to find a way to confront it, manage it, and use it. There are only two options for how you can use your past and that's either as an 'excuse' or as a 'reason'. You must decide whether or not your story becomes the reason you strive to become a better person or an excuse for your "inability" to fulfill your purpose.
I love, LoVe, LOVE this series of OWN's Master Class, not because it features one of my favorite women, Maya Angelou, whose work I respect and admire like no other. ..But I love this series so much because it truly exemplifies the fact that EVERYONE has a story.
